Mr. Grimm by JoeVeen Mr. Grimm by JoeVeen
Just a quick painting of Mr. Grimm (NPC) for my Shadowrun game, From the Shadows. If you're interested, there is a brief biography here: [link]

This is an excellent portrait. You create a character who looks mundane, but snazzy, and his facial expression and posture say a lot about him, in conjunction. The elf ears are a nice touch, reminding us that this is not a human. If I have any "complaints", it's only that, if you took away the pointy ears, I would assume he's human, and there isn't anything else to suggest he is a "Shadowrun" character (such as the particular style of the suit, a background, hints of technology).

That's what an elf in a suit should look like!

...now that is very nice indeed. Way, way better than the art I see in the game books.

Thanks! I'm actually planning on submitting my artwork to Catalyst, once I have a couple really nice pieces up and see if I can't get into a Shadowrun book. :)

...man If they don't take you aboard they will be committing a "critical glitch".

Much of the art in the SR4 core book is in my opinion, ugh!. A lot of it looks unfinished or slapped out at the last moment (save for the colour pics and a few of the things they took form prevoius editions). The least they could have done was reuse some of Bradstreet's stuff to keep a bit of continuity.

Admittedly, the art in "Street Magic" is a lot better.

When was Bradstreet working on Shadowrun?

Back in the SRII days. He has three or four really nice illustrations. My fave is the fellow bristling with guns on Page 9. This pic set the mood of the Shadowrun world for me.
